Session Wanji: July 29- August 1
Session Nunpa: July 6-8: Outdoor Adventure Camp; July 13-15: Arts and Music Camp; and July 24-26: Science Camp
Since 2008, Camp Thunderbird South Dakota (CTSD) has run a week-long summer camp each summer for elementary-aged kids from the Rosebud Reservation, specifically the He Dog, Todd County, and Parmelee schools. Each camp session offers three days of Day Camp at He Dog School and a three-day Trip Camp which includes trips to Custer State Park, School of Mines, and more sites in the Black Hills.
Campers will camp, hike, rock climb, learn to identify plants, learn cultural traditions and responsibilities, visit sites in the Black Hills, and tour/stay at the School of Mines in Rapid City, SD. Check out some photos from past summer camp sessions.
CTSD intentionally plans and facilitates short-term activities that will allow the kids to be exposed to experiences that might change their lives in the long-term. CTSD strives to make change through four goals: challenge yourself, work together, help others, and keep learning. All of our activities revolved around these pillars.
