We’re looking for motivated individuals to serve as Lead Counselors and Junior Counselors for our week-long elementary camp or 3-day middle school camps in July. View our volunteer page for more details.
Dear Camp Thunderbird Family,
As we enter into the Holiday season with Thanksgiving, we would like to take some time to convey our gratitude for everyone who had any part in supporting Camp Thunderbird this past summer. Camp Thunderbird was able to host two weeks worth of camp, serving our largest, most geographically diverse group of campers yet. Additionally, this was the first year Camp Thunderbird hosted school year weekend retreats, an event that gave our campers the ability to connect beyond just summer camp.
Whether you donated through our IndieGoGo campaign or through our website, helped spread the word about our efforts, or came to one of our events in person, your generosity is felt by Camp Thunderbird and, more importantly, its campers. As Cason, a returning camper, wrote, “It was the perfect mix of old friends and new friends working together to learn new things. I’m leaving with a lot of memories and knowing that I have a group of people who will support me at whatever I try next.” This summer’s camp served 64 campers and 3 junior counselors, our largest group yet. If you would like to see some pictures of our campers enjoying themselves this summer, please browse our photo gallery here.
We want to thank everyone who made any sort of financial donationto support students from the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations, who are rarely given the opportunity to attend enriching, engaging summer camps such as Camp Thunderbird. We would also like to thank all of the volunteers who spent time organizing fundraisers, working with students, and devoting their time to make Camp Thunderbird successful. We particularly want to thank the families of our campers, who put their trust in us and work with us to ensure the best for their children. And finally, we would like to thank our campers, who are willing to go outside their comfort zone and make the entire Camp Thunderbird journey so worth the time and effort.
If you would like to support Camp Thunderbird this holiday season, please consider purchasing a super hip Camp Thunderbird t-shirt to gift to a loved one! They can be found in the holiday shop of the Camp Thunderbird website.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support, and have a safe and happy holiday season.
